Frequently Asked Questions
Which ages are suitable for pediatric aquatic OT?
Pediatric services can be offered for individuals aged 2-16 years old depending on condition and/or functional status.
How long do sessions typically last?
Session length and duration of therapy will depend on your child's specific needs. However, children will most commonly be seen on a weekly basis for 45 minute sessions. Therapy dosage will be recommended following initial evaluation.
What do I need to bring to an aquatic therapy session?
Please bring the following to each therapy session:
swimwear for your child (swim diapers if needed)
goggles/preferred pool toys if desired
Your therapist will supply all other equipment for each session. It is recommended to be a dry change of clothes to put on after therapy, especially during colder months.

How often/long can I expect my child to be in aquatic therapy for?
This will depend on your child's specific needs. Some children will receive therapy for a couple of months, while others may benefit from a more long-term intervention plan.
Where are therapy sessions location?
Therapy sessions are located in Louisville Colorado in local hotels. Contact for more details.
Can family and siblings attend sessions?
Siblings are welcome to watch sessions at the pool perimeter when supervised by an adult. However, due to liability coverage, siblings are not able to swim in the pool during sessions and must be supervised at all times.
Do I need health insurance for services and which insurance do you accept?
Aquatics in mOTion currently accepts Health First (Colorado Medicaid) benefits or private pay. If you choose to pay for services out of pocket, we will provide a monthly superbill that can be submitted to private insurance for potential reimbursement. Consultative services are billed at an hourly rate and will vary based on group size, but are not covered by insurance.
Aquatic OT can also be covered with additional funding through Dynamic Therapy Services or the A&I Avenues Autism Grant. Click the links below to learn more.
My child is already receiving OT in a different setting. Can they participate in aquatic OT as well?
Yes! Aquatic therapy can be an excellent supplement to "land-based" OT. Both services may be eligible for insurance coverage depending on your specific health insurance plan and child's needs.
What is the difference between aquatic OT and swim lessons?
Although children will likely improve in their swim skills during therapy sessions, their goals will be grounded in functional improvements that can translate to their performance at home and school. OT will likely encompass practice with breathing, entering/exiting the pool, and submersion, but these will be approaches designed for improved occupational performance as opposed to swimming ability.
My child has not been in a pool and/or does not have basic swim skills. Are they still a good fit for therapy services?
Yes! Your child will work one-on-one with their therapist and will be supervised at all times. Many children are first exposed to the water during therapy sessions.
